Passive House Canada Invites Building Professionals to Help Shape the Future of High-Performance Building Education

National training survey, professional certification pathways and industry partnerships support a growing community committed to better buildings

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 14, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Passive House Canada is inviting building professionals across the country to help shape the future of high-performance building education through its 2027 Training Needs Survey, now open until October 23, 2026.

As Canada's building industry navigates growing expectations around affordability, energy efficiency, occupant comfort and climate resilience, the need for practical skills and professional development continues to grow.

Passive House Canada is responding through its national education programs, professional certification pathways and partnerships with organizations such as the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC).

Helping Shape Tomorrow's Training

Passive House Canada's 2027 Training Needs Survey invites architects, engineers, designers, builders, tradespeople and other industry professionals to identify the skills, knowledge and training opportunities they believe will be most valuable in the years ahead.

The survey explores barriers to professional development, preferred learning formats and emerging training priorities. Participation is encouraged from everyone working in the building sector, whether or not they have previously taken Passive House training.

The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Participants may also enter a draw for one of three $150 prepaid Visa cards.

The deadline to participate is Friday, October 23, 2026.

Building Skills Through Professional Education

Passive House Canada's Pathway to Passive House Designer/Consultant Certification provides architects, engineers and building designers with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to design and deliver high-performance buildings.

The pathway combines building science, energy modelling and practical design applications, helping professionals translate ambitious performance goals into real-world results.

Through its partnership with the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC), Passive House Canada also extends its member pricing for its 120P training series to RAIC members, making specialized professional education more accessible to Canada's architectural community.

Beyond the Designer pathway, Passive House Canada offers introductory, specialized and self-paced learning opportunities for professionals at different stages of their careers.

Building a Broader Movement for Better Buildings

"Building better buildings isn't just about adopting a standard. It's about bringing people together who believe we can do better — designers, builders, manufacturers, policymakers and building owners alike," said Michael Quast, CEO of Passive House Canada.

"Passive House provides a proven pathway to better performance, but realizing its potential requires a much broader community of people with the knowledge, skills and ambition to move our industry forward. That's the movement we're working to build."

Through education, industry collaboration and professional engagement, Passive House Canada is helping grow that community while advancing buildings that are healthier, more comfortable, more durable, energy-efficient and resilient.
